As a teacher,I feel that this project helped a lot in teaching and learning. As it was integrated with different subjects so it helped to understand the topic from different aspects. This project is a unique experience of collaborative learning, working with other teachers proved a nice experience as it helped in sharing ideas and views which proved very effective and fruitful for social interaction and better learning and teaching.
I want to share my recount of the project which I wrote in the English lesson.
"Recount of Blood Circulation Project"
We, the students of class five; during September and October in school worked on blood circulation project. Ms Seema and Ms Hina helped us to complete the project. First we dissected the goat’s heart. We cut it and saw the four chambers of the heart. Then we explored a website and watched a simulation to see the flow of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. Next we did a role play on blood circulation. We wore blue shirt to represent the deoxygenated blood and then we took off the blue shirt in the lungs and our red shirts which we were wearing underneath the blue represented the rich oxygenated blood. We moved on the path drawn on the floor. Our teacher took a movie of it and then we did the pod casting to explain the role play. After that we did an exercise like running and jumping to note down the effect on our pulse rate. Our result was recorded on a graph using Excel software. Finally we uploaded the movie on you tube and shared our experiences on blog. The activities were really helpful. We understand blood circulation. The pod casting was very interesting. We enjoyed a lot. We thanked our teacher for helping us throughout the project we did.
All class 5 students did an interesting project on the blood circulation during the month of September till October. Mrs. Seema and Mrs. Hina helped us in completing the project.
First we dissected the goat’s heart and by that we got to see the parts of the heart. Then we went on a website exploration to see the flow of blood when it was oxygenated or de-oxygenated blood. Next we did the role play where the students acted as blood showing the circulation of blood and our teacher took a movie of it. Then we recorded our voice and narrated the whole process. After that we did some exercise and checked our pulse rate and the result was recorded on a graph using the Excel software. Finally we uploaded the movie on youtube and shared our experiences on blog. The activities we did help me understand the blood circulation and also helped me on the assessment. When I was pod casting I felt that my heart was going to pop out but I managed to do it and afterwards it was kind of fun and I enjoyed it a lot.
It was an exciting experience and I want to share my recount with you all....
The Blood Circulation Project
All students of class 5 during September and October did an interesting project on Blood Circulation at our school. First we dissected the goat’s heart. We saw four chambers inside the heart. Then on computer we observed a website to see the flow of oxygenated and the de-oxygenated blood. Next we did a role play in which we acted as blood we were wearing red and blue shirts to show the pure and impure blood. Our teacher Miss Hina took a movie of our role play and we recorded our voice. After that we did an experiment on pulse rate. We did many exercises and the result was recorded on a graph using Excel . Finally the movie was uploaded on you tube and experiences were shared in the blog . The activities were helpful for us as I have understood the movement of blood in the body. Ahsan Ali V- D
All the children of class V did an interesting project on blood circulation, we did this project in school, during September and October 07. First there was a dissection of the goat’s heart and we observed the inside of the heart. Then we went for website exploration to see flow of pure and impure blood that is going in the heart. Next we had a role play, we acted as blood, we were wearing blue and red shirt to show how blood changes from deoxygenated to oxygenate blood and our teacher took a movie of the role play, then we did voice recording. After that we did experiment on our pulse rate, we did exercise and checked our pulse again and noted the change and made a graph on Excel. Finally the movie was uploaded on You Tube . It was a great experience, we shared it on blog. It was an interesting and helpful activity; we understood every thing about the blood circulation. .
In English period we wrote a recount of the project. please read it....
The Blood circulation project During the month of September and October class 5 students did a project on Blood Circulation. The first activity we did was the dissection of the goat’s heart. We did this activity to see the inner chamber of the heart. Then we went to the lab to explore a website so that we can see the flow of fresh and impure blood in the heart. Next we did a role play, acting as blood we were wearing blue and red shirt to show pure and impure blood while we were doing the role play our teacher made a movie of us, we also recorded our voice and narrated the whole process. After that our next activity was about the pulse rate. We went out side and did an activity on pulse rate to see the effect of exercise. Our result was recorded in a graph we used Excel soft ware to record it. Finally our movie was sent on the internet through you tube. I enjoyed this project and I have learned a lot about blood circulation. I wish I could do this activity again. Yusra 5 D
I,being a Science Teacher felt that teaching a difficult topic like ' Blood Circulation' could not be better explained to the students of primary level without being integrated with IT.The activity in which the students wore red and blue shirts to differentiate between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood and walked along the previously drawn blood vessels, heart and lungs on the ground was just too brilliant. To substantiate their learning, children were taken to the IT lab through wathing a video clipping of the heart.Later on as they made a graph of their pulse rates, they invariably had been enhancing their mathematical skills.Well done HINA, I really found it a new experience and wonderful too!
